Project Details
This design-build project enabled the RCYC to rehabilitate the shorewall adjacent to the clubhouse and install a new boatwell with a craneway within their budget.
The works required the demolition and clean-up of the existing shorewall. 104m lineal meters of steel sheet piling facewall (max. length of 10.6m) was supplied and installed on the island from Dean’s floating plant. The onshore excavation for the continuous deadman wall and tie-rods was then performed and those elements were installed. A steel pile cap was then attached and the entire structure was backfilled with existing and imported material.
The Club’s new boatwell/craneway structure required the removal of the existing structure and the supply and installation of 28 lineal meters of 12 meter long steel sheet piling facewall. Two continuous deadman walls and the related tie-rods were then installed and connected to the facewall. The engineering for the boatwell required Dean to facilitate geotechnical inspections. Found conditions required the addition of eight 14.3 meter long steel H-piles to safely support the crane load along the sides of the boatwell. Reinforcing steel and concrete were then supplied and installed to the craneways.
The entire project was completed within a very tight timeline enbling the Club to launch the members’ vessels prior to the opening of the boating season.
